Current Shooting at the club

Shooting with Pandemic Restrictions

Below is an overview of the changes we have implemented for when we return to shooting.

Outside Range and Inside Range

  •  If you are feeling poorly, please stay away.
  • We can currently use the Outside range with social distancing.
  • The inside range is available for individuals/support bubbles/family members (from the same household)
  • We will be offering appointment only bookings, an email will be sent out weekly to the members. Booking will be on a first come, first served basis.
  • Each outside session will consist of 4 shooters who will have an hour on the outside range.
  • Each inside session will consist of an  individuals/support bubbles/family members who will have an hour on the inside range.
  • There will be sessions available at a distance of 20 yards and 100 yards on the outside range.

Conditions for using the Outside Range

  • If you are feeling poorly, please stay away.
  • Your temperature will be taken via an Infra-Red Thermometer. If your temperature is 37 or above you will be refused access to the ranges. We will recommend you seek medical advice.
  • If your gun is zeroed for 20 yards please book the 20 yard slot.
  • Remember Range etiquette: do not remove your gun from its gun-slip or touch a gun when people are forward of the firing point (even if the rifle isn’t loaded).
  • You will need to provide a means of securing the target to the frames (staple gun, tape, drawing pins etc. – do not share as this may introduce potential cross contamination).
  • When taking frames forward, please wear gloves or have available hand sanitizer for use after handling the frames.
  • Target setup must be staggered, - 2 people go forward then return, then the next 2, when they return, one person will assume Range officer duties to allow shooting to start.
  • It is recommended that you wear some form of face covering but not mandatory.
  • Normal PPE (hearing protection/eye protection) is mandatory at 20 yards, Please provide your own PPE.
  • Car park – gates will be open 5 min to the hour and closed at quarter past the hour – this is to stop over crowding - Make sure you attend your time slot punctually.
  • Please clean the benches before and after use.

Shooting on the Inside Range

  • If you are feeling poorly, please stay away.
  • Your temperature will be taken via an Infra-Red Thermometer. If your temperature is 37 or above you will be refused access to the ranges. We will recommend you seek medical advice.
  • Face coverings must be worn inside.
  • The Duty Office will complete all signing in paperwork.
  • New Ventilation has been installed and will be turned on 30min before shooting commences. Ventilation will be switched off 20min after shooting stops.
  • To promote social distancing, 3 of the 6 bays have been cordoned off.
  • Only club officials and shooters are allowed in the club house at any one time, any shooters waiting to shoot will be asked to wait outside until their time slot becomes available.
  • Shooters who have finished shooting will be required to pack away, wipe down their area and leave the club promptly.
  • We cannot provide training at this time.

Club Guns

  • Club guns will be available to use
  • Please book the rifle you would like to use when booking your time slot.
  • You must be signed off to shoot the rifle you request, this will be checked before use. If you are not signed off, you will be refused the use of the rifle.
  • A face covering must be used if shooting a club rifle.
  • It is recommended that you use gloves.
  • You must wipe the rifle over before and after use, Cleaning products will be provided.

Personal Equipment

  • We no longer provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE - Eye protection, Hearing Protection), this is due to the possibility of the virus being able to survive on hard surfaces and cross contamination.
  • We recommend wearing a face covering and gloves, but this is not mandatory at this time unless you are going in the clubhouse.
  • The club will provide wipes and hand sanitiser where possible (we are at the mercy of the retailers and their stock levels)

Payments and Signing in.

  • The club will note your attendance, ammunition and targets used etc.
  • Invoicing will be sent out at the end of each month asking for payment via BACs - all details will be on the email.
  • You just turn up and shoot :-)

Probation Members and New Members

  • If you have received club training and have been signed off to shoot a rifle, you are welcome to book a shooting slot and rifle.
  • Due to social distancing rules we cannot take on new members or allow existing probation members to shoot if they haven't been signed off.
  • We cannot provide training at this time.

The Future?...

  • We hope the social distancing rules will be relaxed. If this happens, you must do what is best for your own personal circumstances - if you have an underlying condition, then we will work with you to allow you to shoot without compromising your personal safety.
  • face covering are to be worn inside.
  • We expect the appointment only requirements to stay in place for both the outside and inside ranges.
  • We will allow both ranges to be used concurrently.

Please be assured the committee is working hard to keep our sport functioning during difficult times.

We hope to see you soon, all the best and stay safe.
